DISTRIBUTION:

The Madagascar Heron (Ardea humbloti) is natural to the island of Madagascar.


ELEVATION:

Sea level to 1500 meters.


HABITAT:

It is normally seen in the water deposits, could be fresh water, brackish water or saltwater.


BEHAVIOR:

This egret is more active during daytime.


REPRODUCTION:

Nesting is solitary and in colonies made up of egrets of this species and others. The clutch is three eggs. Incubation is done by both parents.


FOOD:

The diet consists of fish and crustaceans


DESCRIPTION:

In length it reaches one meter.


OTHER NAMES:

The Madagascar Heron in Spanish is called “Garza Malgache”.
