DISTRIBUTION: |
The Graylag Goose (Anser anser) is natural to Europe and Asia. It breeds to the north of these continents. In fall migrates south to the north of India, China and the Mediterranean coasts of Europe and Africa. |
HABITAT: |
During winter it is seen on marshes and fields (crops, pasture and unimproved land). |
BEHAVIOR: |
This species is gregarious when not breeding. The flocks of the Graylag Goose join with those of the Greater White-fronted Goose. |

REPRODUCTION: |
The clutch could be three to twelve eggs, usually it is four to six. Incubation takes 27 to 28 days and it is performed by the female. The youngsters are able to fly at 50 to 60 days. |
FOOD: |
The diet of this goose includes roots, seeds and grass. |
DESCRIPTION: |
This is a good size goose. The males are slightly larger, reaching in weight up to 4 Kg. (almost 9 pounds). |
MOLT: |
The molt is once a year, after breeding. All the flight feathers are lost during this time, the goose not able to fly until they are replaced. |
